Vevo

Black history month 2022

For Vevo’s annual Black History Month campaign, I contributed to the design of a vibrant, interactive visual that celebrates the rich cultural contributions of Black artists. This year’s theme focused on genre boundaries and stereotypes that Black artists have historically faced. Each week, we highlighted a different genre—Pop, Indie & Alternative, Dance & Electronic, and Classical—celebrating the Black artists who have shaped and defined these genres.

Concept & Inspiration

Set within a lively, music-inspired world, the key art brought this theme to life by showcasing animated elements that represent various genres. Speakers, instruments, and a “Black History Month” sign move rhythmically throughout the scene, while symbolic details like the three birds (a nod to Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”) and jungle leaves pay tribute to musical roots. The vibrant, animated environment served as an engaging backdrop to communicate the campaign’s message of genre diversity and cultural impact.
