The 2023 Notting Hill Carnival campaign was crafted to celebrate the vibrant energy and cultural diversity of one of London’s biggest cultural events. This campaign focused heavily on dynamic typography, drawing inspiration from both the reggae and dancehall genres that are integral to Carnival. I aimed to create a visual identity that encapsulated the movement, rhythm, and celebratory atmosphere of Carnival.
Concept and Inspiration:
I explored previous Notting Hill Carnival posters as well as genre-specific designs that capture the essence of reggae and fun associated with the event. The bold, layered typography in this campaign was designed to feel energetic and alive, with a sense of movement that mirrors the dynamic flow of Carnival itself. By combining vibrant colours with fluid text elements, I created a visual style that resonates with the celebratory and inclusive spirit of Notting Hill Carnival.
